Andrej Johannes Thieme is a German Director of photograpy based in Berlin

Born in 1981 and grown up in Göttingen, Andrej Johannes moved to Berlin in 2001 To pursue his fascination for filmmaking. Before starting his career as DOP, he initially worked on set for a huge number of film & television productions and Commercials as 1st assistant camera for several years.

In 2009 he started his studies in cinematography at the university of Film and Television „Konrad Wolf“ in Potsdam Babelsberg, which he concluded with the feature „real life“. 

„real life“ was screened at various film festivals such as São Paulo International Film Festival, Festival of German Films in Ludwigshafen, Filmart Festival Schwerin and Grenzland Filmtage in Selb, where it won the audience award. 

Andrej Johannes is working as a freelance cinematographer in the fields of feature film, documentary and commercial.

Besides filming in Germany he has vast experience in working abroad in countries such as Canada, Israel, Tunisia, norway, suisse or Italy.

To tell human stories in pictures, searching for truthfulness and meaning is a passion and challenge for him.
